ELEGANT WATCHES ...
The clock is used as a measure of time since antiquity, in various formats. It is one of the oldest human inventions.
The first clock came 5000 years ago, made by a stick stuck in the ground whose shadow moved under the sun, not marked hours, only divided the day. Using the same principle, came the gnomon, an obelisk whose shadow was projected by the light of the sun or moon; between the start and end point was a space used in time division. I hope I have answered you.

The origin of the Clock
The clock is used as a measure of time since antiquity in different formats. The earliest sundials were probably used by gnomons. History records that appeared in Judea about 600 BC, the water clocks (clepsydras) and hourglasses (hourglasses).

Among the first watches or horológios in Portuguese oldest first 2 which are known are the sundials, probably osgnômons [citation needed]. Watches simple water or sand are known to have existed in Babylon and in Egypt around the 16th century BC. History records that appeared in Judea, about 600 BC, with water clocks (clepsydras) and hourglasses (hourglasses).

In 725 BC, Yi Xing, a Buddhist monk Chinese developed a mechanical watch that had a complex system of gears and 60 buckets of water that corresponded to 60 seconds which made a complete revolution in 24 horas.3 In 797 (or 801), the caliph of Baghdad, Harun al-Rashid, presented Charlemagne with an Asian elephant named Abul-Abbas and a mechanical clock where came a knight that advertised hours. This indicates that the first mechanical clocks were probably invented by the Asians. However, although there is controversy over the construction of the first mechanical watch, Pope Sylvester II in the Western world is considered the first inventor.

Around 1500, Peter Henlein, the city of Nuremberg, manufactured the first pocket watch.

Until, in 1595, Galileo Galilei discovered the isochronism. With mechanical watches comes a wide variety of techniques of recording the passage of time. Clocks of this type can be pendulum quartz or timers.

The most accurate are atomic.
The first watches were used pocket watches. Were very rare and taken as true gems, because few had one. Pocket watches were a symbol of aristocracy.
It is said that it was Santos Dumont who invented wrist watches. The friendship with Louis Cartier Santos Dumont came from the late nineteenth century. One night, Alberto told you could not read the time on the wing in his pocket watch, with the help of master watchmaker Edmond Jaeger,
Cartier presented a solution to Santos Dumont, a prototype wristwatch, in 1904, the which allowed to see the hours keeping hands on command.

However this story is just a legend. as the first wristwatch was made known in about 1814 by watchmaker Abraham Louis Breguet custom Carolina Murat, princess of Naples and sister of Napoleon Bonaparte 4.
Big Ben, contrary to what many think, is not the British Parliament's famous clock (which is well known for its accuracy and size) so little to his tower. Is the name of the bell, which was installed in the Palace of Westminster during the administration of Sir Benjamin Hall, Public Works Minister daInglaterra in 1859. Being a tall, burly, Benjamin had the nickname Big Ben.
The bell was produced in 1858 by the Whitechapel Foundry in the city of Londres.1 Master foundry that year was George Mears, whose name is inscribed in sino.2
Weighs 13,760 kg, its diameter is 2.74 meters (9 ft) and its height is 2.39 meters (7 ft 6 in), according to the manufacturer Whitechapel.3
In the casting process, the time it took the molten metal to fill the mold was 20 minutes and the time of solidification in the mold was 20 days. Once ready, was transported from the factory to the Parliament (a journey of a few miles) in a chariot drawn by 16 horses decorated for that festive event. The bell rang for the first time in the tower on May 31, 1859. 3
Since December 31, 1923, BBC radio broadcasts every day the chimes of sino.4
In a ceremony at the foot of the tower on September 12, 2012, the name of the tower and the clock became Elizabeth Tower in honor of rainhaElizabeth II by his 60-year reign. 5
Until October 2011, the tower was leaning 0.26 degrees northwest, resulting in a deviation of about half a meter between the base and the highest point of the structure, considering the height of 96 meters.
According to the measurements of experts, the tower is leaning at a rate of 0.9 millimeters per year since 2003, .6
On February 15, 1952 played 56 times every minute during the funeral of King George VI, who died 56 years age.7
On July 27, 2012 touched for 3 minutes (from 8:12 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.) to announce the opening of the Olympic Games 2012.7 It was the first time the bell rang outside your normal schedule since the funeral of King George VI in 1952.
